ASDA Farnworth shoppers donate over 752 meals for local people in need
Local Farnworth shoppers donated a generous 316kg of food to Farnworth and Kearsley foodbank on 9th June 2018 to help feed local people facing crisis. A small army of volunteers gave their time to make the supermarket collection inside ASDA such a success.
On Saturday, volunteers stood inside ASDA and asked shoppers to donate an item or two to help feed local people in crisis. Over 90% of the food that is given out by the foodbank is donated by the public, which makes collections like Saturday’s so important. The foodbank wouldn’t be able to run without public generosity.
Farnworth and Kearsley foodbank manager, Alex Malone says;
‘Farnworth and Kearsley foodbank wants to say a big thank you to all those who gave their food or time on Saturday. It is hard to describe the difference giving a food parcel makes to parents whose children would otherwise go to bed hungry and it is people like you who make this possible, thank you.’
If you would like to get involved in collecting food for us we have collections coming up on the 16th June, 30th June, 21st July and 18th August at supermarkets in our area. Please get in touch by phone 01204 861 671 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can offer any time on these dates.
